Soma sold five Optima 2 at drupa

At drupa, Soma launched the new Optima 2 wide web flexo press, of which they have sold 5 during the exhibition. Many key global players visited their stand and showed a real interest in Soma's new printing press. Many of those customers also visited the Soma Globe Technology & Training centre in Czech Republic for printing trials. Soma reports to be in negotiations with some more potential customers.

New Soma press with plenty of advanced solutions

The obvious change is width, it is now up to 1270 mm (50 inch) wide. Following on from the success of the Optima mid web press launched at K 2013 with over 35 presses sold, the wider web Optima 2 version was developed.

 

And the new Optima² boasts a broad range of advancements which were inspired by closely listening to both needs of printers, and ideas of the design team headed by Jan Verner.

 

The development of the Optima² started in 2013, and had three primary goals: faster set up, less waste and reduction of plate bounce.

Soma launches new wide web Optima press

Soma will launch a wide web version of its successful OPTIMA, short run CI flexographic printing press at DRUPA 2016. Twice daily the company will demonstrate the versatility of its OPTIMA mid web model as well as debut its OPTIMA2 wider web version featuring five unique solutions for flexography including its Advanced Bounce Control technology.

Soma further improves printing quality

Soma’s ‘Advanced Bounce Control’ system eliminates bouncing at high press speeds in order to optimise print quality. The system consists of composite mandrels, a sturdy single block frame, cast iron print unit frames, specially designed mandrel housings and a brand new sliding/positioning printing deck design. Robust printing cylinder support frames provide optimum vibration damping which is especially important when printing in HD quality.

Soma targest Chinese diaper market

Together with its local partner APET INTERNATIONAL, SOMA will present its latest technology at Chinaplas (Stand W5S51). Information will be available on all the company’s products that include a full range of flexo printing presses, laminators, and slitter rewinders.

Encouraged by its recent success in the Asian markets with the sales of four Soma Premia presses for printing diapers in China and Japan, SOMA sees Chinaplas as a significant platform for its products and future expansion plans.
